1. What is the objective of the May Day Model Partnership Award?

To recognize and reward outstanding partners for their efforts in helping Singapore and Singapore-based companies/organizations overcome the economic slowdown. This year, the theme will be “Upturn the Downturn” incorporating partners from the management, union, worker and service providers.

2. How do I nominate?

Forms can be obtained from:

  • e2i Referral Centre, Employment & Employability Institute, 141 Redhill Road, Blk A #01-01
  • Union Offices
  • Download form from Website: http://www.ntuc.org.sg/MDMPA09

If more than one nomination is submitted, the nominating person must rank nominees in order of merit. Only completed forms will be considered.

Unionized companies are to send nomination forms to be endorsed by union before reaching the organizing committee. Non-unionized companies are to send directly to the stipulated address. Nomination forms to be completed & submitted by closing date on 23 March 09:

3. What are the prizes?

Each awardee will receive a trophy and certificate presented during the Award ceremony.

4. What are the criteria for judging?

I) Model Partnership

We will be recognizing partners who had made contributions and supported tripartite efforts to

  • Cut costs to save jobs (e.g. tripartite guidelines on managing excess manpower)
  • Re-skill and upgrade for new and different jobs (e.g. re-deployment)
  • Stay the course to achieve longer term objectives (e.g. Best Sourcing, employability of lower skilled workers, back to work women, re-employment, and job re-creation)

II) Model Adaptable Worker

Eligible workers are:

  • Singaporeans, Permanent Residents or Foreign Workers
  • Full time/ part time/ contract/ daily rated workers
  • Working at the present company for at least 3 months

Belongs to at least one of the following categories

  • Adaptive and resilient worker
  • Upgraders (e.g. skills, jobs, pay)
  • Mature workers above 50 years old (e.g. re-employment/ re-deployment)
  • Back to Work (e.g. back to work women, ex-inmates, retirees)

Nominees should display professionalism and excellent performance, work conduct and service attitude. Nominees will be assessed on their contributions and work dedication to the company. Special contributions of the nominees should be highlighted (See Nomination Form)
