All union members are covered by SLF GIFT Plus, a group insurance policy that pays up to S$30,000 for death or permanent and total disability (PTD). This ensures peace of mind that there will be some financial assistance in the unfortunate event of members’ death or permanent and total disability. The coverage is also extended to member’s spouse that pays up to $500 for death or PTD due to all causes. From May 2004 to April 2005, the SLF GIFT Plus paid out a total of $2.2 million, benefiting the families of 453 members. Criteria: Members must be below 65 years of age, and have at least 6 months of continuous union membership to be eligible for coverage.  |
