Skills Training & Employability Enhancement for Retrenched and Unemployed Workers (STEER)
This programme aims to impart skills to participants and find employers for them.
Companies that recruit unemployed or retrenched workers and sending them for full-time training under the various STEER programmes will be eligible for course fees and absentee payroll funding for the period of training. After STEER graduates completed their training stints, companies will also be eligible for a wage support of 50% of salary (capped at $1,000 per month) for the first 3 months of employment after training. For more information on the various STEER programmes available, please click here to view the Powerpoint slides
Place-and-Train Programmes
Place-and-Train Programmes provide funding to companies who commit to hiring and training retrenched and unemployed Singaporeans or Permanent Residents. These come in the form of course fee subsidies, absentee payroll and wage support after training, with additional incentives given to employers who hire workers 40 years old and above.
Place-and-Train Programmes have been launched in industries such as Textile, Wafer and Precision Engineering. Click here to see Place-and-Train funding details.
