Does the company has the right to terminate an employee without giving any reasons

I have signed a contractual contract with my employer for 2 years but due to health
reasons I would like to resign. In the contract, it stated that if I break the contract
, I would need to pay a sum of $10,000. I have stated my reason clearly being the
centre's situation affects my health but I am not able to pay the penalty. Is there
any way out? Can Trade Union help to advocate on my behalf?
