Singaporeans will remember Ronald Susilo best for his 2004 Olympic Games feat – he beat World No. 1 and top seed, Lin Dan of China, in the First Round, and made it as far as the Quarter Finals of the Men Singles event. Before he took a break to recover from an injury, he was 6th in the World Ranking (as at 11 November 2004). Li Li
Li Li was one of two female shuttlers who represented Singapore in the 2004 Olympic Games’ Women’s Singles event. Kendrick Lee
Last year, Kendrick Lee scored two firsts when he won the US Open Championships’ (1-star) Men’s Singles title – he was the first Singaporean to win a Grand Prix event, and the youngest male player worldwide to do so, at 20. He also became the first local-born Singaporean to win an International Badminton Federation event when he took the Men Singles’ crown at the 2004 Thailand Asian Satellite (A Grade) tournament. This year, he added the Men Singles and Men Doubles (with Ronald Susilo) titles to his belt at the Cheers Badminton Nationals. He recently received the 2004 Meritorious Award from the Singapore National Olympic Council.
