Tickets to Singapore Chinese Orchestra Shows
The 70-strong Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) is Singapore’s only professional Chinese orchestra. Formerly a performing unit of the People’s Association Cultural Troupe, the SCO was inaugurated in 1996, at the initiative of Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. This inception has been instrumental to the SCO’s elevation in its artistic pursuits, warranting it a national orchestra. The SCO is the proud resident orchestra of the 2001 refurbished Singapore Conference Hall with an 882-seat concert hall. It performs under the baton of Music Director Tsung Yeh.

Singapore Conference Hall
Tickets $20, $16*, $11*

Singapore’s answer to China’s 12 Girls’ Band comes in the magic number, “9” – or the nine youthful doyennes of their musical fields – Yu Jia (pipa), Zhang Rong Hui (zhongruan, the Chinese banjo), Qu Jian Qing (yangqin, dulcimer), Foong Cui Shan (zhongruan), Xu Wen Jing (gaohu), She Ling (erhu), Wong Meng Yee (double bass), Li Hua (cello) and Xu Hui (guzheng, percussion). The audience can look forward to specially commissioned genre-defying repertoire, involving the musicians playing in combinations of duets, trios, quartets and larger ensembles.
