Adding Value to Business

By fostering sound industrial relations, our unions help make Singapore a good place to do business in. This has attracted investments and created jobs. Over time, the quality of jobs has improved. Wages have risen. Moreover, we also have a flexible wage system that allows adjustments to be made when the need arises.
 
We support companies' efforts to restructure to become more competitive. We prepare our workers to face such changes confidently, by getting them to constantly update their knowledge and skills. We have started a programme for management personnel, unionists and workers to attend joint productivity courses so that they can make their companies more competitive. Our labour movement works with companies to ensure that workplaces are clean and safe. We promote workplaces health programmes to keep workers in good health.
 
The NTUC bestows May Day awards to government, business and union leaders, as well as to companies to show appreciation for their efforts in improving the lot of workers.
