Aspiring and existing professionals in the accountancy sector can now look forward to a one-stop portal to access information on job opportunities, skills upgrading and career coaching.

The Accountancy Careers Hub is a collaboration between NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC), and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).

The hub was opened by NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Patrick Tay on 29 March 2022.

Mr Tay said: “One big sector that we are expecting to have lots of opportunities and growth, that has really powered Singapore’s economy over the last couple of years, is the professional services sector – of which the accountancy sector is a part of.”

NTUC’s e2i Chief Executive Officer Caryn Lim said that e2i has been mindful of the steady growing demand for skilled professionals within the accountancy sector, given Singapore’s role as a key global financial hub.

She added: “Together with SAC and ISCA, e2i will synergise our efforts and bring greater and more consolidated support to finance and accounting professionals as well as workers within the Accountancy sector through the Accountancy Careers Hub.

“We will expand our support to companies to assist them in their manpower and transformation needs.”

Job Opportunities

Jobseekers can take advantage of the hub’s jobs portal, which is specially dedicated to finance and accounting functions, as well as career opportunities within the accountancy sector.

At the time of launch, there were over 200 jobs with some 106 employers on board with the initiative. More will be added in due course.

There will also be Career Conversion Programmes for those who wish to move into or across job roles within the accountancy sector. This includes roles such as such as cloud accounts executive as well as business development executive.

Skill Upgrading

In January 2022, the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), launched the Jobs Transformation Maps (JTMs) for in-house finance & accounting functions and accounting practices.

The JTMs map out pathways for employers to transform jobs, and requisite skills for workers to acquire as existing jobs evolve and new job roles emerge.

With the Accountancy Careers Hub, workers can access over 300 specially curated courses by training providers such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Singapore and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). These courses – which may be conducted virtually, on-site or in a hybrid setting – will cover various skillsets outlined in the JTMs such as technical, technology and soft skills.

Union members can look forward to eligible courses under the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) to help defray their cost of training.

Career Coaching

For workers who need career advice and resources on navigating through the changes and challenges of the accountancy sector, they can approach an e2i career coach to help them achieve their career goals.
