Like any mother, all Dayana Shahirah Ridwan wants is to prepare fresh and nutritious meals for her three children to keep them healthy.

However, the cost of caring for her 9-year-old son and 4-year-old twin daughters was already stretching her finances, making costly nutritious meals a luxury she couldn’t afford.

So, you can imagine the joy Dayana felt when she started receiving FairPrice grocery bundles filled with fresh eggs, vegetables, low-fat milk and cereal in April and September this year.

“I appreciate the low-fat milk and cereal for my children. These items can help them start the day strong with a nutritious breakfast before going to school. My children love pasta, and I will add vegetables for more nutrition,” she shared.

The 38-year-old homemaker is also grateful to receive vouchers for fresh hot meals at any Kopitiam outlet in Singapore.

“The groceries and vouchers really help to alleviate some of the financial stress at home. I’m thankful that the community in Singapore is very willing to share with one another,” she said.

Dayana is one of over 600,000 beneficiaries who have enjoyed the generosity of A Full Plate, Singapore’s largest food donation drive launched in 2024.

Serving up nutrition

A community initiative of the FairPrice Group (FPG) and its philanthropic arm FairPrice Foundation (FPF), A Full Plate 2025 is back for a second year to support underprivileged families like Dayana’s, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals to stay healthy.

A Full Plate was launched in response to a study conducted by the group last year, which revealed that Singaporeans face difficulties accessing nutritious food and that food donation recipients prefer fresh items over canned ones.

This year’s drive aims to nourish over 700,000 beneficiaries from 21 community and charity partners, a significant increase from the 600,000 beneficiaries and 10 partners in 2024. New charity recipients include the Migrant Workers’ Centre, The Helping Hand, and Society for the Aged Sick.

The return of A Full Plate marks FPG and FPF’s continued commitment in ensuring nutritious essentials remain within reach for all Singaporeans, especially the needy and vulnerable.

“As the nation’s largest retailer, we know that many in Singapore, especially the underprivileged among us, want to provide their families and loved ones with a nutritious variety of food. That’s what A Full Plate is all about—rallying Singaporeans to help make every day a little better for vulnerable communities by providing them with the nutritious essentials they need to live healthier, more fulfilling lives,” FPG Group CEO Vipul Chawla said.

Dishing out resilience

No stranger to supporting the wider community beyond their supermarket and cooked food businesses, FPG and FPF will also be expanding their Neighbourhood Food Share initiative to 60 distribution points by the end of 2025. This move will provide more needy communities with free fruits and vegetables.

Other initiatives include double discounts for Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue and Orange cardholders with large families from September to December 2025. Additionally, the Cheers Breakfast Club distributes nutritious breakfast bundles to 12,000 Primary 6 students to support them during the PSLE examinations.
