Union leaders, we’re sure you are always working with management partners who are treating workers well.

If you have come across particularly exemplary ones, how about giving them a well-deserved recognition?

Nominate your management partners for the inaugural Tripartite Alliance Award organised by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP). It will give a pat on the back to those who have made the effort to be fair, responsible and progressive.

    The Award

Union leaders can put in the names for the following categories - Fair and Progressive Employment Practices, Work-life Excellence, and Age Inclusive Practices.

If you feel a management partner is strongly committed to the adoption of progressive HR policies and practices and manage a diverse workforce, then consider nominating it for the Fair and Progressive Employment Practices category.

For the Work-life Excellence category, cast your vote for organisations which maximise employee performance while helping them manage work-life harmony. The company you name should ensure that its senior management, supervisors and employees have demonstrated outstanding success in implementing work-life programmes and fostering a work-life friendly culture.

In the Age Inclusive Practices category, union leaders should keep a lookout for a management partner who has effectively implemented age-inclusive practices, removed barriers to employment and applied the Tripartite Guidelines on Re-employment of Older Employees. Such practices should have enhanced the competitiveness and productivity of the company.

    NTUC Involvement

One of the tripartite partners involved in the conception of the award is NTUC.

Here's what NTUC Director (Women and Family Unit) Toh Hwee Tin, a representative on the working group, had to say: “The award is given to companies that put working persons at the heart of their business. It looks at principles of inclusiveness, fairness and responsibility.

“Union leaders and NTUC officers are stakeholders in these businesses too. They help to rethink, redesign and rebuild tomorrow’s workplaces. They have the industry knowledge and the abilities to pull resources within the Labour Movement network to help companies in similar trades to overcome challenges.”

NTUC representatives will also be involved in the judging panel to select the winners. So be sure to stay tuned for the Triparite Alliance Award ceremony come November 2018.

Nominations for the award can be submitted via the TAFEP website. The closing date for nomination is 16 March 2018.
