Yusri Shaggy Sapari is a professional storyteller using video to explore people's stories. His journey began as a child recording his grandmother and TV shows. He studied media to become a journalist but fell in love with the arts, leading to internships in production.
In 2011, he digitized The Necessary Stage's video archives and worked as a video and sound technician for various productions, touring cities like Rijeka, Penang, and New York City. In 2014, he trained as a multimedia designer under Brian Gothong Tan.
In 2016, he founded Paradise Pictures to enhance the recording of theatrical performances in Singapore, helping arts companies find the right fit for their productions. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, Shaggy has received multiple accolades for his work, which often explores themes of identity, culture, and heritage. He has also participated in projects documenting Singapore's diverse cultures.
