NTUC U Women and Family piloted the Women Supporting Women Mentorship Programme in partnership with the Punggol Shore Constituency in 2020.

What is the mentorship programme about?

The WSW mentorship is a community mentoring programme that supports women in various constituencies by offering them an opportunity to be mentored by women leaders. It allows women workers and jobseekers to focus on their professional development and personal growth over a 6-month period.

Who are the mentors and what will be covered?

Women leaders with professional experiences across different industries from NTUC and the constituency (e.g., Women Executive Committee members) contribute as mentors in the programme by sharing:

  • Their own professional journey, e.g. how did they get to where they are, what type of training they went through, etc…
  • Suggestions on how the mentees could develop themselves professionally, e.g., training programmes, networking opportunities, etc…
  • Resources to guide mentees and avenues for help on employment issues, e.g., NTUC, TADM, etc…

Who should join the mentorship programme as a mentee?

  • Stay-home caregivers who may wish to return to work or explore income generating activities but do not know how or where to start
  • Mid-career professionals who may be seeking advice on the next steps of their professional careers
  • Fresh grads who may be looking at career guidance

Which are the constituencies offering the mentorship programme?

NTUC U Women and Family will be expanding the Women Supporting Women Mentorship Programme to more communities across the island.

“I’m joining as a mentor to give back to society. Previously, I was mentored by my ex-boss and greatly benefited from it. Since I have gone through this, I want to share this experience with other women to encourage them. It’s also an opportunity for me to learn from the mentees’ journey.”

Ms. Jessie Chiu

President, Singapore Union of Broadcasting Employees

Mentor, NTUC

“As a woman, mother and employee, I understand the dynamics and delicate balance between work and family that all women face in our day-to-day lives. It is fulfilling to guide fellow women through these challenges and watch them grow. I am inspired by the determination they have.”

Ms. Genevieve Lim

Mentor, Punggol Shore
