NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited Founded in 1973, NTUC FairPrice’s mission to help moderate the cost of living for working people remains at the heart of its operations. From one supermarket to an islandwide network of over 200 stores, FairPrice today is the preferred supermarket for half a million union members.

FairPrice enhances the value of union membership through attractive rebates and dividends. Last financial year alone, FairPrice gave away $28 million dollars in rebates and $9 million dollars in dividends to its members. Over the years, FairPrice has given away some $620 million dollars in rebates and dividends to reward members for their patronage.

FairPrice has been an ardent supporter of NTUC and its affiliates, in enhancing workers’ welfare. It provides study grants for union members’ children to help support the cost of their education. Its generosity also extends to rewarding members with LinkPoints for their grocery purchases, which amounts to the value of $11 million dollars a year. Since the launch of LinkPoints, FairPrice has given away $36 million dollars worth of LinkPoints. It is by far the highest contributor of LinkPoints to the labour movement.

As a social enterprise, FairPrice is trusted to ensure that essential goods will always be made affordable to consumers. This commitment to its social mission has garnered strong support from the community and workers. To renew its commitment to the labour movement, NTUC FairPrice Foundation donated $3.5 million dollars to NTUC in August this year to help low-wage workers cope with the rising cost of living.

Founded 35 years ago, NTUC FairPrice has pledged to add value to the labour movement and staying true to its social mission.

NTUC Club was first set up in 1986 to provide recreational facilities to union members at affordable prices. The club and its staff have done consistently well to live up to its promise of providing fun and entertainment at very competitive rates.

Over the last three years, NTUC Club offered subsidies and discounts to union members exceeding $32 million. It has contributed another $22 million in support of union work, through direct funding and cash sponsorships.

NTUC Club initiated the $3.5 million Family Recreation FUNd from 2005 to 2007. Vouchers were given to low-income union members so that they and their families could enjoy the facilities at Downtown East.

To further enhance its offerings, NTUC Club has created more leisure options for members, such as the Marina Bay Golf Course, E!Hub, eXplorerkid, and Orchid Bowl. Its clubhouses at Scarlet City, Jest D’Place, Happy Days, Union Square, and DXO offer additional entertainment choices.

NTUC Club has played and will continue to play a pivotal role in building key relationships for the Labour Movement. Through its community outreach programmes such as nEbO for the youths; eXplorerkid for young families; theme parks and Downtown East activities and facilities for families in general as well as the Third Chapter for the active agers, Club’s contribution towards membership recruitment and retention is undeniable and highly commendable.

Since 2004, OCBC has worked closely with NTUC to enrich the lives of union members and Singaporeans. Both NTUC and OCBC share a common goal of serving the community, by helping working people achieve their aspirations.

OCBC Bank has partnered NTUC to offer union members better value through customized banking products and services. These include the newly launched Uplus membership card that offers more savings and LinkPoints to union members. The free starter accounts will encourage members to develop the habit of saving; and family packages such as parenthood and children plans will help those who are just starting up their families.

Besides these, talks such as the NTUC-OCBC Moneywise seminars have also helped create greater financial awareness among members. Such talks aim to educate members in managing their personal finances and would allow members to achieve their financial objectives in the long run.

OCBC Bank also actively supports NTUC activities such as the May Day celebrations and fund-raising events. The Bank has also set up a Little Skool House which is managed by NTUC Childcare at OCBC Centre, to let its employees have the peace of mind at work, knowing that their little ones are well taken care of.

To help the less fortunate, OCBC Bank’s social responsibility programme reaches out to the charities supported by NTUC. These include support for the NTUC ElderCare Trust and the NTUC Childcare Bright Horizons Trust Fund.

OCBC believes its strategic collaboration with NTUC will indeed go a long way in enriching the lives of all working people in Singapore.
