What is NTUC Gift?
NTUC GIFT is a group insurance that covers death and permanent & total disability due to natural causes and accidents.
Who is NTUC GIFT for?
NTUC GIFT is for members* of participating unions/associations affiliated to National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Members must be 16 to 65 years of age with at least 6 months of continuous union/association membership and be physically and actively at work.
* Members refer to ordinary, general branch union members and members of taxi associations affiliated to NTUC.
Do leaders enjoy additional coverage?
Yes, leaders of unions /associations registered under the Trade Unions Act or Societies Act and are affiliated to NTUC are eligible for double cover.
What are the criteria for eligibility of claim?
- Members must be actively and physically at work on the date of claim.
- The policy covers eligible members and their spouses up to 65 years of age (i.e. before their 65th birthday).
Is there a certificate?
No. As this is a group insurance arrangement, a Master Policy will be kept by NTUC.
Do I have to pay any premium?
79% of the premium is paid by NTUC while the rest is paid by your union/association.

Note: This brochure is not a contract of insurance. The specific details applicable
to this insurance are set out in the Master Policy kept by NTUC.
Terms & Conditions
- NTUC GIFT covers ordinary members, general branch union
members and members of taxi associations affiliated to NTUC.
- Double cover is given to leaders of unions/associations who are:
a) affiliated to NTUC and
b) registered under the Trade Unions Act or the Societies Act
- The policy covers eligible members and their spouses up to 65 years
of age ie before their 65th birthday.
- New members must have at least 6 months of continuous
membership to be eligible for coverage. To be considered to have
continuous membership, members who leave their union/association
must join another union/association within a period of 3 months
and make all payments in arrears.
- Members must be actively and physically at work. Members who
are on paid medical leave and /or on no pay leave shall be deemed
to be not actively at work. Members who are not actively and
physically at work shall not be eligible until they return to active
service and are medically certified to be in good health.
- Please refer to the Table of Benefits for the basis and sum assured.
- A member who suffers from partial disability due to an accident
outside working hours, will only be paid a percentage of the
benefit. Should a second mishap occur, he will only be eligible for
the remaining percentage of the payout.
- Cover for members end upon their termination of union/association
membership. To continue to enjoy the benefits, members have to
join a union/association within 3 months and make all payments
in arrears.
- In the event that the member dies without leaving a will, the
cheque will be made payable to the next-of-kin of the member
in the order of spouse, children, parent. However, NTUC and
union/association reserved the right to determine the next-of-kin
eligible for the claim.
How to make a claim?
If you are an ordinary branch union member, contact your
union.
If you are a general branch union member, contact NTUC
Customer Service Centre at Tel: 6213 8008.
If you are an association member, contact your association.
Note: NTUC GIFT claim form must be submitted within 30 days
of member¡¯s death or permanent & total disablement.
What documents to submit to make
a claim?
For Death claims:
- Claim Form and Death Certificate
- Autopsy Report
(for death resulting from an accident)
- Marriage Certificate
(if claiming for death of spouse)
For Permanent & Total Disability claims:
- Claim Form and Medical Report
- Police report of Accident (if available) and a signed Clinical
Abstract Form
- Marriage Certificate (if claiming for spouse)
