I thank Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for his trust and confidence in inviting me to serve in Cabinet. I am humbled by this appointment and accept it with a strong sense of responsibility.

Over the past year, we have built a capable team in Jalan Kayu to serve our residents. With the support of grassroots leaders, partners and many residents, we have further improved the infrastructure, with more sheltered linkways, upgraded playgrounds and fitness corners, sports facilities, new bus services and ongoing LRT enhancements. Importantly, we are progressing towards building a caring and inclusive Jalan Kayu together.

The work in NTUC and our unions continues unabated. Our priority is to prepare the workforce for AI-led business transformation. We are working towards an AI transition with no jobless growth. NTUC’s AI-Ready SG initiative remains a key priority, standing alongside workers, including PMEs, to help them upskill and navigate these changes. There is much work to be done too in the Tripartite Jobs Council.

As NTUC Secretary-General and a Cabinet Minister, I will continue to champion better wages, welfare and work prospects for workers. Being in Cabinet means I can work even more closely with the Government to support workers and Singapore's progress, alongside unions and employers.

Having spent time with residents, union leaders, workers and tripartite partners on the ground, I am deeply encouraged by the support, feedback and trust shown to me. To my residents in Jalan Kayu, thank you for your trust and encouragement. I will continue to do my best to serve you and be your voice. To my union leaders, NTUC sisters and brothers, and tripartite partners, I thank you for walking this journey with me. Let us continue to work hand in hand for fellow Singaporeans, our workers and our Singapore.

Ng Chee Meng

NTUC Secretary-General and

Member of Parliament for Jalan Kayu
