Dr Suhaila Zainal Shah is a Research Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), where she also serves as Deputy Programme Director of the MSc Urban Science, Policy and Planning programme. Trained as a sociologist, her research examines the intersections of work, technology, and community life, and their implications for inclusion, wellbeing, and resilience. Her work spans labour market transitions, digital transformation, participatory governance, and community engagement, with a particular interest in how individuals and communities navigate change and adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities. Through interdisciplinary and applied research, she seeks to generate evidence that informs policy and practice on emerging societal and workforce issues, working across sectors and in collaboration with government, unions, industry, and community organisations.
