NTUC membership is open to anyone above 16 years of age, except personnel from Singapore Police Force, Singapore Prisons, Auxiliary Police bodies, foreign domestic workers and full-time students.

Annual membership fee is $117 or $9 per month from January to November and $18 in December.

  • The U Care Back To School (BTS) Vouchers Programme is one of NTUC-U Care Fund’s core assistance programmes which aims to help eligible union members defray the cost of their children’s school expenses for the new school year.
  • Each successful applicant will receive a booklet of U Care Back To School Vouchers worth $125 for each eligible school-going child (limit of one booklet per eligible child).
  • The U Care Back To School Vouchers are valid till 30 April 2017.
  • No extension will be granted after the voucher expiry date. 
  • Member must have a minimum 6 months continuous paid-up union membership at the point of application or as at programme closing date (whichever earlier) and must not be in arrears.
  • Total Monthly Gross Household Income of $3000 and below, OR
  • Per Capita Income of $750 and below if Gross Household Income exceeds $3000.
  • Gross income is defined as all income derived from employment/business, inclusive of overtime and allowances.
  • Member's child/children must be attending school in 2017 at an eligible educational institution in Singapore as follows:

  • The U Stretch Vouchers Programme is one of NTUC-U Care Fund’s core assistance programmes which provides relief to eligible union members by helping to stretch their dollar on daily necessities.
  • For 2016, the NTUC-U Care Fund has set aside $2.675 million worth of U Stretch Vouchers to potentially help 31,500 members to defray their cost of living.
  • Each successful applicant will receive one of the following:
  1. $100 worth of vouchers if member has dependent(s) staying in the same household in Singapore OR
  2. $50 worth of vouchers if member does not have dependent(s) staying in the same household in Singapore.
  • Each U Stretch Voucher provides a $2.50 discount off every $5 purchase at the participating NTUC Social Enterprises.
  • The three participating NTUC Social Enterprises are NTUC FairPrice, NTUC Foodfare and NTUC Health.
  • The U Stretch Vouchers are valid till 30 April 2017.

Main Criteria

Member:

  • You must be an NTUC General Branch, U Club or National Taxi Association (NTA) Union member with a minimum of 6 months continuous paid-up union membership at the point of application and is not in arrears.
  • For Ordinary Branch members, you may approach your respective union for the availability of scholarship/education grant programme.

Child/Children:

  • Must be studying* in Singapore, either in Government/Government-Aided/Independent Schools, Junior Colleges, Institute of Technical Education, Millennia Institute, Polytechnics or MOE-registered Special Education Schools in 2015 and 2016.

(*excludes bridging courses tie-up between foreign and local educational institutions)

  • Must not receive or apply for Scholarship or Bursary awards from any other organizations including the Government Education Scheme.
  • Must be attending school in year 2016. Graduating students (e.g. final year Junior College students going to NS in year 2016) who will not be attending schools will not be eligible for the Education Awards.
  • Each child can only apply for either Education Grant or Scholarship.

Additional Criteria for Education Grant

  • Total monthly gross household income* must be less than $3,000 or monthly per capita income of less than $750 (*all income derived from employment/business, inclusive of overtime and allowances).
  • Your child/children must achieve a passing grade for the overall aggregate and not a retained student in 2016.
  • Only maximum of 2 children per family can apply.

Additional Criteria for Scholarship

  • For school-going child/children in all education levels except primary 1-3 in 2016.

  • The Family Fun Fiesta (FFF), formerly known as Family Recreation & Fun (FRF) Carnivals is organized and sponsored by NTUC Club in support of the Labour Movement’s U Care initiative.
  • Held several times a year, FFF aims to strengthen family bonding and promote a greater work-life balance and better well-being by enabling lower income union members to enjoy a day of fun with their families at Downtown East at no cost.
  • Each successful applicant will receive a recreation package which comprises of admission tickets to Downtown East facilities, wristbands for carnival stall games, F&B vouchers for each family member and a lucky draw coupon per family.
  • Total Monthly Gross Household Income of $4,000 and below OR Per Capita Income of $1000 and below if gross household income exceeds $4,000. Gross income is defined as all income derived from employment/business inclusive of overtime and allowances.
  • Member must not be in arrears of membership dues.
  • Family members refers to applicant's immediate family members and they must be staying in the same household as the applicant in Singapore.

The U Care Hardship Grant is a once-off assistance to low-income union members in the event that the members suffer hardship arising from one of the following circumstances which is of a non-industrial nature:

  • Death

  • Total and permanent incapacity

  • Serious chronic medical condition

(​Pre-existing serious chronic medical condition diagnosed before the applicant became a Union Member will not be considered)

  • Registered fire or flood victim

Union member must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the grant:

  • Total Monthly Gross Household Income of $1,800 and below OR Per Capita Income of $500 and below if gross household income exceeds $1,800.
  • Minimum of 6 months continuous paid-up union membership at the point of application.
  • For Ordinary Branch members, you may apply through your union.
  • For General Branch members, you may apply through the following methods:

  • NTUC Gift is a group insurance policy exclusively for members of NTUC affiliated unions/association.

  • Union members' spouses below 65 years old are also covered against death and TPD.
  • Eligible members aged 65 years old and above can opt for extension of coverage with payment of a token fee.

NTUC GIFT eligibility:
  • Members between 16 and 65 years of age (includes spouse below the age of 65, i.e. before 65th birthday).
