DREAM. BELIEVE. ACHIEVE
This year’s theme for the Future Leaders Summit (FLS) explores the topic of future-readiness. But what does it mean to be ready for the future, in one’s career and to be a leader? As part of a weekly series on issues affecting Singapore’s PMEs, we asked several PMEs who attended previous editions of the FLS to share their thoughts on what “Future-Ready” leadership means to them.
Joeris Ong, Service Relationships Manager
Future-ready leaders are armed with good foresight and are always one-step ahead of their competition and the landscape. They apply knowledge and wisdom into strategic decision making and learn from mistakes of the past. Who is a future leader? Someone with charisma, insight and constantly looking forward.
Muhd Fuadi Bin Rahmat, Lecturer
Tomorrow’s leaders need to learn from both present and past leaders, and absorb both local and global perspectives in today’s connected world. Excellent communication skills are also more important than ever, along with life-long desire to continue learning and stay updated.
Sharon Cheng, Legal Counsel
Emerging markets and industries are the way to go. Hence future-ready leaders should be keen to innovate and open up to new ideas and possibilities, ready to embrace and adapt to change. In the face of this constant change, leaders will have to explore new opportunities for engaging their audiences, such as digital or social media.
Lim Tze Qi, Human Resource
A future-ready leader should have strong communication skills, allowing him or her to present their thoughts and ideas eloquently to influence others. They should also display emotional resilience in the face of challenges and adversity.
