The Lunar New Year Visit to unionised companies by key NTUC leaders has been ongoing since 1999 to show our appreciation to workers who continue to perform essential duties during these festive celebrations.

Our Labour Movement continues our yearly tradition to show our appreciation to working people who keep things running smoothly through the Lunar New Year festivities.

This year, on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and key union leaders greeted about 150 workers at SBS Transit’s Gali Batu MRT Depot as well as SMRT’s Tuas Depot, giving out red packets and mandarin oranges as well as gifts provided by Mrs Lee to rail technicians, traffic controllers and rail engineers amongst others who work behind-the-scenes to keep Singapore’s public transport system running.

NTUC Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing and key union leaders from the National Transport Workers’ Union brought festive cheer to over 400 bus workers at SMRT’s bus depot at Ang Mo Kio, SBS Transit’s Bus Depot at Ang Mo Kio and Tower Transit’s Bus Interchange at Bukit Batok. On the eve of Lunar New Year, SG Chan also visited Go-Ahead Singapore’s Bus Depot at Loyang and Marina Bay Sands “Underground City”

The Labour Movement wishes Singapore and all working people a Happy Lunar New Year in the Year of the Dog!
